I'm Mairi Smith and I'm the designer and maker behind Hebridean Footstools & Home Accessories. All products are handmade by me in my Hebridean home on the beautiful Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides.
Harris Tweed is the predominant fabric in my creations as my home is on the doorstep of the Harris Tweed industry where Harris Tweed is woven by weavers in their own homes in the Western Isles.
Having started off my career in engineering, I came to sewing a bit later than I would have liked but my engineering background means that I pride myself on the quality of my products, paying the utmost attention to detail. Products are not churned out and I pride myself in getting every product right for my customers.
I also specialise in making cushions and footstools using my customers photographs transferred to fabrics resulting in stunning, unique conversation pieces. I welcome commissions and will work with you to get exactly what you want.
